PAINT YOUR CLAY!

Take advantage of this special day!!  Sometimes glaze just isn’t the way to go, this workshop will offer you alternative methods and materials to finishing your non-functional clay work!  Students are encouraged to bring 2 or 3 pieces to work on, and or some textured test tiles for experimentation.  Some materials will be available to share - but a basic materials list will be provided upon request (acrylic craft quality paints and brushes).

Gibbons has been finishing her own works with these techniques for over 15 years now... learn some of her tricks and open your finishing world and possiblities!!  Painted clay doesn’t have to look painted... with the right techniques you will have a rich surface with depth and no loss of detail in your work.  This process works best with textured surfaces and on a white bodied clay that is low fire and not vitrified (I suggest white low fired clay, firing work to cone 04 to achieve quartz inversion but not vitrify the clay body)

Demos and hands on format.  We will discuss and experience post fired mediums such as:  acrylic paints and washes, prisma pencil, wax pigments, metal surfacers, wax and spray sealants and more! class size is limited to 10, allowing more time for one on one with students during this 6 hour workshop!!
